The Police STAR Fund is one of the few innovation funds dedicated to local policing. It supports projects that use science, technology, analysis and research to address policing challenges and improve outcomes. The fund is open to all NPCC forces and their Police and Crime Commissioners, as well as national policing organisations including the National Crime Agency, College of Policing, Forensic Capability Network, NPCC and Home Office.

As in previous years, the fund will operate a two stage application process. Applicants will first submit a short Expression of Interest (EOI) of approximately 750 words. Successful applicants will then be invited to submit a full application.

The EOI window will open on 28 September 2026 and close on 26 October 2026. We are publishing the call information in advance to give potential applicants time to develop their proposals and prepare their submissions.

Applicants are encouraged to read all guidance documents carefully, including the prospectus and FAQs, as some eligibility criteria and application processes have changed from previous funding rounds.
